I was just wondering what if any legal ramifications (copyright/tradmark etc.)are there? Say if a customer wants to inlay, for instance, The Jetsons/Flinstones on a guitar. Does the inlay person need to get permission? Maybe this belongs in the Off Topic... |

If the guitar is to be sold to someone, the short answer is yes, you need permission to use any copyrighted and/or trademarked material, which also may include payment of a royalty. |

Truth is if you are doing it for someones personal guitar that will not be in the major public eye (such as an on stage performer) no one will come after you. How ever if you are marketing it as a product watch out. In either case Steve is right trademark or copyright images are propitiatory |
